Snapchat Story Downloader

A Story snap is gone in about 24 hours. Paste the profile or Story link and Snapdown lists every public snap in it, each with its own download button.

Story links, Highlight links and plain usernames all work, e.g.story.snapchat.com/p/…

Before you start

How long each kind of post stays reachable

Almost every failed Story download is really a timing problem rather than a technical one. This is what actually expires, and what quietly does not.

Content typeHow long it lastsReachable later? What to do about it
Story snapAbout 24 hours from postingOnly inside that windowSave it the day you see it — there is no recovering it afterwards
Highlight reelUntil the creator deletes itYes, often months or yearsCheck here first when a Story has already gone
Spotlight postIndefinitelyYesNo rush; the Spotlight downloader handles these
Photo snap in a StorySame 24 hours as videoOnly inside that windowSaved as the original JPG, PNG or WebP, not renamed
MemoryPrivate to the creatorNoNothing public exists to read; only they can export it
Private or Friend StoryBehind a Snapchat loginNoAsk the creator directly — no tool can reach this
Windows are Snapchat's, not ours. A snap that has left the public page cannot be recovered by any tool.

How it works

From link to saved Story

The clock is the only thing working against you. This part takes seconds.

  1. 01

    Grab the Story link

Open the profile in Snapchat, tap the share arrow and choose Copy Link. If you only know the handle, that is enough — type it instead.

  2. 02

    Let Snapdown read it

We open the public page Snapchat already serves to the web and pull out every snap currently live on it, videos and photos alike.

  3. 03

    Save the snaps you want

Each snap gets its own row with its format and quality. Take one, take a few, or work down the list and keep the whole Story.

Stories and Highlights

Built for Stories

Made for content on a timer

Stories behave differently from ordinary videos, so the tool treats them differently.

  • Every snap in one pass

A Story is a sequence, not a single file. Snapdown lists all of them together so you are not re-pasting the same link a dozen times.

  • Highlights too

Highlight reels are Stories the creator chose to keep. They are handled the same way, and they stay reachable for months rather than a day.

  • Photos are not skipped

Image-only snaps come through as the original JPG, PNG or WebP, with the right extension on the file rather than a renamed guess.

  • Original quality

Each snap is the file Snapchat serves, not a screen recording. No watermark, no re-compression, no letterboxing.

  • No trace on the profile

Public pages carry no viewer list, and we read them from our server rather than your device, so nothing is attributed to you.

  • Free, however many

No cap on snaps, Stories or days. No account, no card, and we keep no record of what you looked up.

Questions

Questions people actually ask

How do I download someone's Snapchat Story?

Copy the link to their profile or Story from Snapchat's share menu, or simply type their username, and paste it into the box above. Snapdown lists every public snap currently in that Story, each with its own download button.

Can I download a whole Snapchat Story at once?

Every snap in the Story is listed together, so you can work down the list without pasting the link again. Each snap saves as its own file, numbered in order, because that is how Snapchat stores them — a Story is a sequence of separate snaps rather than one continuous video.

Can I save Snapchat Highlights?

Yes. Highlights are Stories the creator chose to keep, and they work exactly the same way here. Because they are not on a 24-hour timer, a Highlight link keeps working for months.

Will they know I saved their Story?

No. Snapdown reads the public web version of the Story, which has no viewer list, and it does so from our server rather than your device. Nothing is announced and nothing is attributed to you.

Why does it say the Story has expired?

Snapchat removes Story snaps from its public page after about 24 hours and the media links behind them stop working. When that has happened there is nothing left to download. Highlights last much longer, so try those if the creator saved the snap you wanted.

Can I download private Stories?

No. Private Stories, Friend Stories and group Stories all sit behind a Snapchat login. Snapdown never authenticates against Snapchat, so that content is unreachable — by design, not by oversight.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. It is a normal web page, so Safari on iPhone and Chrome on Android both work with nothing to install. On iOS the saved snaps land in Files, and you can move them into Photos from there.
