Free · No watermark · HD MP4

Snapchat Video Downloader

Paste a Snapchat link or type a username to download Snapchat videos in HD MP4. No app, no login, no watermark — free and unlimited.

Works with Spotlight, Story, Highlight and profile links, e.g.snapchat.com/spotlight/…

How it works

Three steps, about ten seconds

No account, no software, no waiting in a queue. Paste, pick, save.

  1. 01

    Copy the Snapchat link

In Snapchat, tap the share arrow on any public Spotlight clip, Story or profile and choose Copy Link. A username works too.

  2. 02

    Paste it into Snapdown

Drop the link in the box above and hit Download. We read the public page Snapchat already publishes to the open web — nothing is uploaded from your device.

  3. 03

    Pick a quality and save

Every available resolution is listed with its exact dimensions. Choose one and the file saves straight to your device as a clean MP4.

Why Snapdown

Built to get out of your way

The whole tool is one input and a list of files. Everything else is plumbing you should never have to think about.

  • Original quality, no watermark

You get the same file Snapchat serves, up to 1080p and beyond. Nothing is re-encoded, so there is no quality loss and no logo stamped over the frame.

  • No login, no install

No Snapchat credentials, no account here, no app to sideload. It is a web page — open it and paste.

  • Search by username

Type a handle instead of hunting for a share link, and Snapdown lists every public post on that profile as a card you can save individually.

  • Videos and photos

Spotlight clips, Story snaps, saved Highlight reels and image-only snaps are all handled, each with the right file extension.

  • Merges split audio

When Snapchat stores a clip's picture and sound as two files, Snapdown combines them into one MP4 inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded to do it.

  • Every device, no limits

iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, tablet. Any modern browser works, there is no daily cap, and we never keep a copy of what you download.

Ready to save that snap?

Paste a link, pick a quality, done. No account, no watermark, no limit on how many you grab.

The detail

What Snapdown can and cannot reach

Snapdown reads the same public page Snapchat publishes to the open web, then hands you the original media file behind it. That single design decision explains everything the tool is good at and everything it will never do.

Works with

  • Spotlight clips, in every resolution Snapchat stores
  • The current Story on a public profile
  • Saved Highlight reels, months after they were posted
  • Public profile pages, listed post by post
  • Photo-only snaps, saved as the original JPG, PNG or WebP
  • Clips whose audio Snapchat stores separately, merged in your browser

Cannot reach

  • Private Stories and Friend Stories
  • Snaps sent directly to you in a chat
  • Group Stories and My Eyes Only
  • Anything on a private account
  • Story snaps that already expired

These are not gaps waiting to be closed. Snapdown never authenticates against Snapchat, so anything behind a login is unreachable by construction — and that is the point.

Why the quality is identical to Snapchat's
Nothing is re-encoded. Snapdown resolves the media URL on Snapchat's own CDN and streams those exact bytes to you, so the file you save is bit-for-bit the file Snapchat serves. That is why there is no watermark, no re-compression and no quality loss — there is no processing step in which any of those could be introduced. When a clip is available in more than one resolution, every one is listed with its true pixel dimensions so you can pick deliberately instead of guessing.
Why some clips need merging
Snapchat delivers a portion of its catalogue as adaptive streams, which store the picture and the sound as two separate files. Handing you a silent MP4 would be useless, so when Snapdown detects that split it offers a Merge & download button. The combining happens inside your browser using a WebAssembly muxer — the two tracks are copied into one MP4 container without being re-encoded, and neither file is ever uploaded to a server to do it. It is fast, lossless, and private by construction.
What happens to what you paste
The link goes to our extractor, which fetches the public Snapchat page and returns the media URLs. We do not write the link to a database, we do not build a history against your device, and we never store the media itself — the download streams through and is discarded. There are no third-party analytics scripts and no advertising trackers on this site.
Downloading responsibly
Saving a public clip for your own offline viewing is ordinary browsing. Reposting someone else's video as though it were yours is not, and no tool changes that. Creators own what they make: ask before you republish, credit them when you share, and take anything down if they ask you to.

The complete guide

Questions

Questions people actually ask

How do I download a Snapchat video?

Copy the link to any public Spotlight clip or Story from Snapchat's share menu, paste it into the box at the top of this page, and press Download. Snapdown lists every quality Snapchat has for that clip, and picking one saves the MP4 straight to your device.

Do Snapchat videos download without a watermark?

Yes. Snapdown hands you the original file from Snapchat's own CDN rather than re-recording or re-encoding it, so there is no watermark, no overlay and no quality loss. The file you get is the file Snapchat serves.

Can I download a Snapchat video without the app or an account?

Yes. It runs entirely in your browser, so there is nothing to install and no sign-up. You never enter Snapchat credentials, which is also the reason private content stays out of reach.

Which Snapchat content can Snapdown save?

Anything Snapchat publishes publicly: Spotlight clips, the current Story on an open profile, saved Highlight reels, public profile posts and photo-only snaps. Private Stories, Friend Stories, group Stories, direct snaps and My Eyes Only all sit behind a login and cannot be reached.

Can I download by Snapchat username instead of a link?

Yes. Type a handle such as username or @username and Snapdown opens that public profile, then lists its Story snaps, Spotlight posts and Highlights as cards with a download button on each.

Will the person know I downloaded their snap?

No. Snapdown reads the public web page Snapchat publishes, and it does so from our server rather than your device. Public pages carry no viewer list, so nothing is attributed to you and the creator sees no trace of it.

Why does a link that worked yesterday now fail?

Story snaps expire, usually within about 24 hours, and Snapchat's media URLs are signed and time-limited. Once Snapchat drops a snap from its public page there is nothing left to fetch. Highlights last far longer because the creator chose to keep them.

Is Snapdown free?

Yes, with no usage cap. No email, no card, no trial. We only read public pages, which costs us very little, so there is no reason to charge for it.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. It is an ordinary website, so Safari on iPhone or iPad and Chrome on Android both work with nothing to install. On iOS, saved videos land in Files, and you can move them to Photos from there.

Is it legal to download Snapchat videos?

Saving public content for your own offline viewing is generally fine. Redistributing someone else's video, or passing it off as your own, is not — that is a matter of copyright and Snapchat's terms, not of the tool. Respect the creator and get permission before you republish anything.
